Chapter 1 - A Premonition of War

Map 3- Golems golems everywhere
and not a drop of magic!
Victory Conditions: Defeat of Foes
Failure Conditions: Defeat of Ash Lambert

Between battles:
After the battle, you enter the church and get the Count to surrender to you (gee, another named charactcer....). As soon as they do, Kane shows up and murders the rioters. Ash calls him a bastard, Kane tries to get Ash in a fight (Kane would easily kick Ash's butt at this point), when Clive comes in to stop them. Anyways, you are reprimanded and then you mean Dolf. Dolf (yet another named character...) tells you to go investigate General Magus Dunbar's disappearance (MORE named characters!). You sorta comply, then go off.
At this point, go back to the world map, save, and then enter the Palace Ruins.

Battle Map 3: Golems golems everywhere and not a drop of magic!
(Wow, I'm getting good at this naming thing :P)
This is the palace of the Holy Ashah Dynasty, the former ruling monarchy before Arris the Sage overthrew them under the bloody "Revolution". Not much left if I do say so myself... anyways, you are told by a mysterious voice to go away. You don't, and several clay golems appear.

Reward for all dead: 810 GP

Hidden Item Data:
(14, 00) - Fire Gem
Not Quite-so-Hidden Item Data:
(08, 01) - Elixir
(15, 16) - Herb

Current Characters:
Ash (Level 7, Hero)
Diego (Level 6, Archer)
Clint (Level 6, Soldier)

Enemies:
9x Clay Golem (Level 6, 56/56 HP, Armor class)

Ah, a REAL battle! :) 3 on 9... much better odds for the opponent this time, but they still have no prayer :) This is also the first "standard" battle, as you have no odd mission objectives. Armor class is weak against magic (hence the title) but strong against archers (just like sword). Also, they have higher HP then their sword counterparts and move slower.

General suggestion: Get the hidden item, but the chest treasures aren't all that great... and might be hard to actually reach. use stuff like the boulders to hit the opponents without actually attacking... it helps. In my game, I actually DIDN'T get an herb in the middle of nowhere. Not worth the time really.

What I did:
Hero Turn 1:
Ash moves up forward and hits the golem in front of you square on the nose (26/56 HP remaining), and gets biffed in a counterattack (41/55 HP remaining, 12 XP). Diego shoots the Golem for 22 (4/56 HP remaining, 15 XP), and Clint finishes it off on the side (0/56 HP remaining, 30 XP).
Enemy Turn 1:
Most of the golems just stay still. One is somewhat near Diego, another attacks Clint for 15, and is hit for 22 (34/56 HP remaining, 15 XP).
Hero Turn 2:
Clint attacks again (12/56 HP remaining), gets biffed again (Clint Level Up, 30/56 HP remaining, 15 XP).
Diego finishes him off (0/56 HP, 35 XP), Ash starts to torment the other Golem in the area (26/56 HP remaining, 12 XP), it's counter missed.
Enemy Turn 2:
Golem near Ash hits him for 13 (28/55 HP remaining), Ash kills that sucker for messing with DA MAN! (0/56 HP remaining, 18 XP). Two more golems are on the move, but rather far away at the moment...
Hero Turn 3:
Ash moves out towards the west side on the bridge and heals (56/56 HP, 15 XP). Clint attacks the treasure chest with the elixer in it, Diego backs Clint up.
Enemy Turn 3:
Golem near Clint/Diego attacks Diego for 19 (24/43 HP remaining), he's hit back for 22 (34/56 HP remaining, 14 XP). Fair deal :) Golem near Ash moves closer.
Hero Turn 4:
Diego shoots the golem for another 22 (12/56 HP remaining, 14 XP, Diego Level Up). Clint finishes it off (0/56 HP remaining, 16 XP). Ash moves on up to the golem near him and says "Howdy!" for 42 (14/56 HP remaining). Mr. Golem didn't like that and hit him back for 13 (42/55 HP remaining, 14 XP, Ash Level Up).
Enemy Turn 4:
Golem near Ash hits for 15, Ash doesn't like that (0/56 HP remaining, 8 XP). The golem on the other bridge moves closer to Clint and Diego.
Hero Turn 5:
Diego shoots the next golem for 23 (33 HP remaining, 10 XP), Clint follows up with a nice solid 29, leaving the golem with 4 HP. Golem strikes back biffing Clint for a whopping 13 (17/56 HP remaining, 12 XP). Ash positions himself behind a rock.
Enemy Turn 5:
Golem tries to hit Clint. He missed, but Clint didn't like that. Mess with the best, die like the rest. (0/56 HP remaining, 15 XP) A golem moves towards Ash.
Hero Turn 6:
Clint grabs the firegem, Ash stays still, Diego moves forward.
Enemy Turn 6:
Two golems at Ash, one at Diego.
Hero Turn 7:
Diego shoots the golem. It hurt (32/56 HP remaining, 10 XP). Clint moves up behind Diego, Ash stays put (it's a nice spot :P).
Enemy Turn 7:
The two golems by Ash move closer, the one by Diego moves around the boulder.
Hero Turn 8:
Diego pushs the boulder out of the way, moves BACK (heh heh heh...) and shoots the golem again (8/56 HP remaining, 10 XP). Clint follows up with a nice poke-the-golem-and-make-it-go-boom attack, gaining the obligatory 15 XP. Ash has fun with his new spell and IceStorms the golem closest to him (0/56 HP remaining, 10 XP).
Enemy Turn 8:
Golem to attack Ash for the block. (29/55 HP remaining on Ash, 10/56 HP remaining on the Golem, 9 XP)
Hero Turn 9:
Ash smites the Golem (0/56 HP remaining, 8 XP).
