Between battles:
Return to the town and walk in the Tavern. Make sure to talk to the lady
at the end, for she gives you a key to enter a hidden battle- one of the
Secret Trials. I, however, strongly recommend you do NOT enter the battle
now... wait until you have more characters, otherwise the battle XP will
not be as great as what it could be. My recommendation for that is after
battle 2 in chapter 2.
Grog is already up to date on equipment, so it is time to leave for the
docks.
You are ambushed by Hassan. Seems Hassan killed Grog's friends, and Grog
ran away. Grog mad.
Battle Map 6: The Pirates of Hassan
This is the toughest battle of Chapter 1. Easily. Heck,
it is up there on the toughest battles of the game overall.
Reward for all dead: 2380 GP
Current Characters:
Ash (Level 9, Hero)
Diego (Level 8, Archer)
Clint (Level 8, Soldier)
Eleni (Level 8, Mage)
Huxley (Level 8, Priest)
Kira (Level 8, Archer)
Grog (Level 9, Soldier)

4x Corsair (Archer class, level 6, 44/44 HP)
8x Buccaneer (Soldier class, level 6, 49/49 HP)
1x Hassan, MadCaptain (Guard class, level 8, 72/72 HP, 9/9 MP, Healing
spell)
You have two focal points- the two bridges between the areas. My general
suggestion is to divide up the group (therefore dividing up the enemies)
in to two sections, one for each bridge. Either that, or having them come
to you- I did both. Although there are fewer Corsairs, they are actually
MORE dangerous then Bucs, because the Bucs on the bridges can only attack
one at a time... all 4 Corsairs can hit one of your guys in one round.
What I did:
Hero Turn 1:
Absolutely nothing.
Enemy Turn 1:
Troops move in to position. For more details, look at the third and fourth
screenshot on the right side of the site.
Hero Turn 2:
East Bridge:
Huxley moves next to Grog and buffs (Mystic Shield, Grog Defense up, 18
XP, Huxley Level Up).
Grog takes on the role of the blocker and attacks the first buc on the
east bridge (26 damage, 23/49 HP remaining on the buc, 17 counter, 11
XP).
Kira shoots up the east bridge (21 damage, 2/49 HP remaining, 20 XP).
West Bridge:
Clint takes on the role of the blocker and attacks the first buc on the
west bridge (24 damage, 25/49 HP remaining on the buc, 15 counter, 20
XP).
Diego shoots up that same buc (19 damage, 11/49 HP remaining, 16 XP).
Eleni paralyzes that Corsair on the west bridge (Spellbind, Successful,
20 XP)
Ash does not move.
The Fifth and Sixth screenshot on the right side shows this.
Enemy Turn 2:
East Side Corsair misses Grog.
East Side Buc hits Grog (16 damage, 21 HP remaining on Grog, countered
and Buc died, 16 XP).
East Side Buc moves next to Grog and attacks (17 damage, 4/70 HP remaining,
countered for 24, 10 XP).
West Side Buc attacks Clint (17 damage, countered and died, 18 XP, Clint
Level Up).
West Side Buc attacks Clint (16 damage, countered for 25 damage, 10 XP).
Hero Turn 3:
West Bridge:
Eleni hits a unharmed buc (Dark Star, 26 damage, 21 XP, Eleni Level
Up).
Diego shoots up again on the same buc (16 damage, 16 XP).
Clint chops up some buccaneer (24 damage, 22 XP).
Ash moves behind Eleni.
East Bridge:
Huxley heals Grog (45 extra HP, 49/70 HP now remaining, 24 XP).
Kira shoots a buc (19 damage, 6/49 HP remaining, 16 XP)
Grog finishes off the buc (6 damage, dead, 16 XP).
Enemy Turn 3:
West Corsair still paralyzed.
East Corsair hits Grog (15 damage, 49/70 HP remaining).
East Buc hits Grog (18 damage, 31/70 HP remaining, 24 counterattack, 10
XP).
West Buc hits Clint (15 damage, counter and died, 10 XP).
West Buc misses Clint (Missed, countered for 15, 10 XP).
Hero Turn 4:
West Bridge:
Diego kills the buc (16 damage, 16 XP).
Clint kills the buc (16 XP).
Ash moves forward and whacks the Corsair (44 damage, dead, 30 XP).
Eleni moves in behind him and tries to paralyze another Corsair (Spellbind,
Paralyzed, 10 XP).
East Bridge:
Kira shoots the buc (19 damage, 12 XP, Kira Level Up).
Grog finishes it off (6 damage, dead, 16 XP).
Huxley heals Clint (Healing, +46 HP, 26 XP).
Enemy Turn 4:
East Side Corsair shoots Grog (16 damage, 15/70 HP remaining).
West Side Corsair shoots Clint and misses.
Hero Turn 5:
West Bridge:
Ash SMASH! Corsair go down the hole and go boom. (30 XP).
Clint runs up and swipes a Corsair (35 damage, 15 XP, Clint Level Up).
Diego kills that Corsair (25 XP, Diego Level Up).
Eleni moves up some.
East Bridge:
Huxley heals Grog (Healing, +45 HP, 51/70 HP now remaining).
Kira strikes a Corsair (23 damage, counter blocked, 12 XP).
Grog smites the same Corsair (20 XP).
The last screenshot is of what the map looks like now.
Enemy Turn 5:
Buc and Grog go at it (18 damage, 25 counter, 5 XP, Grog Level Up).
Hassan actually gets off of his butt and moves.
Hero Turn 6:
Party formerly known as West Bridge:
Eleni makes z capitan see z stars (Dark Star, 30 damage to Hassan, 25
XP).
Others move forward.
East Bridge:
Kira shoots the buc (22 damage, 9 XP).
Grog finishes off (8 XP).
Huxley heals Grog (+27 HP, 21 XP, Huxley Level Up).
Enemy Turn 6:
Hassan and Grog exchange blows (29 damage, 20 counter, 8 XP).
Hero Turn 7:
NOTE: You can beat him this round, but you get more XP if you don't since
he will heal.
Kira attacks Grog (20 damage, 2/72 HP remaining, 15 XP).
Enemy Turn 7:
Hassan wimps out (Healing, +70 HP, 72/72 HP now remaining).
Hero Turn 8:
Clint strikes (28 damage, 29 counter, 10 XP).
Eleni tries to paralyze (Spellbind, FAILED).
Kira shoots up (21 damage, 15 XP).
All other characters crowd around Hassan.
Enemy Turn 8:
Hassan has the backbone of a paramecium (Healing, +47 HP, 72/72 HP remaining,
3/9 MP remaining).
Hero Turn 9:
Diego and Kira both shoot the captain (20 damage each, 15 XP each, 32/72
HP remaining).
Eleni tries to paralyze (Spellbind, FAILED).
Ash attacks (23 damage, 30 counter, 20 XP).
Enemy Turn 9
Hassan is a momma's boy (Healing, +63 HP, 72/72 HP now remaining, 0 MP
left)!
Hero Turn 10:
Kira shoots off (21 damage, 15 XP).
Diego follows Kira everywhere (21 damage, 15 XP).
Ash attacks (25 damage, counter blocked, 15 XP, Ash Level Up).
Eleni, solidifying the proof and humiliation I just put Hassan through,
kills him with her STAFF (40 XP).
